Professional property photography will help get your house noticed

When you think about house prices and what estate agents make on selling houses, why is their photography usually sub-standard? Is it too much to ask for some real professional property photography?

Quality photography is money well spent when you look at the extra perceived value it will place on a potential home. This is something that is ignored by many estate agents, who would rather emphasise that it’s their hard work that sells the property. I’m sure that estate agents do not sit on their backsides all day. But I feel in this world where image is king, it pays to look better than the rest. Marketing plans will only get you so far.

For very high end properties there are one or two agents who invest in the occasional real photographer. But not many.

Some middle market estate agents are ‘trying’ to improve, or should I say ‘trying to be seen’ to be improving. The recent trend is plugging a new ‘professional’ photography service to potential clients – ‘because we know you want the best’. Sounds great doesn’t it?

Recently I saw an estate agent website with a slick little video showing a representative holding a ‘really good camera’, while smiling and chatting to house owners. Other agents will no doubt do something similar. Some will charge extra for this and others may ‘throw it in’ to sweeten the deal.

A professional property photographer is an accredited photographer

My message to you is this. Don’t be fooled. These people are no more professional photographers than I am an estate agent. They might argue that these people are paid to do it (amongst other things) and that means that they are professional.

My argument is simple. I sold my first house to my next door neighbour without using an estate agent. That does not mean I am a professional estate agent and I am not pretending to be one.

Also I am a real professional photographer. I have many awards and accreditations to my name from recognised UK Photography bodies. Unlike most (or even all) estate agent employees.

Therefore I am re-launching a service where I can photograph your property starting from as little as £200.00.

Also I can recommend a professional house stylist. Very handy if you are struggling with how your house is presented to viewers.

There is a growing trend in people by-passing the usual estate agent route and selling directly via an on-line agent. Another reason where a professional photographer may help as an iPhone will only get you so far!
